Windy today with a large northerly swell, Whitley Bay (links car park) looks very tempting on the push right now. It'll be going off all the way up the coast I suppose? But no one is getting wet because of the cold?

Just been for a look at Tynemouth, definitely windy but
f***ing freezing!!
Nick G reckons Whitley Bay Links could be worth a look?
Holding out for tomorrow but if it doesn't warm up I'll
probably can it (again)
Couple of weeks in Cape Verde could be the answer?

once the wind has a bit of north in it in december, january and february it is very rare it gets warm! southerly/SW direction is different.

I'm in between jobs so work is not the problem, cold is though. I'll take your advice and chill till spring
Having recently started windsurfing again I didn't realise how much harder it is to beat the cold, especially compared to surfing where I have got wet all year round.

if you are in the sea on some cold days you could argue that you are better off in the water than on it as the wind chill is quite biting(sea temperature five degrees, air temperature minus windchill). it is surprising that at ten degrees a SW wind blowing off the dry land can feel really pleasant, but a week later after heavy snow fall the same wind at ten degrees will feel totally different as the wind is being chilled travelling over melting snow(still icy in places).
check xc weather and you will see two temperature figures at some stations, one is the ambient air temperatue and the lower one that factors in the windchill, dampness in the air, that is the one we are sailing in as we are exposed to the wind. it may feel warm on the sheltered beach but get out into the exposed wind and it is a different story.
at ten degrees the wind chill is usually about the same or not much less, drop to five degrees and the windchill can take it down to freezing so any temperatures around freezing will have a substantial minus windchill, and the stronger the wind the higher the windchill.
you can tell we arent sailing much, got far to much time to think about stuff like this.
here endeth the geek mode.........

6mm wetsuits all the way! Just need a cure for the age old
glove problem then there'll no longer be a reason to sit in
our vans clinging on to our purses talking about the
cold!!!
Roll on spring SW'erlies...have a major itch to scratch.
Still not been round the bars or tested out the GoPro
Anyone wanting to come paddle boarding for core fitness
drop me a PM, I'll be getting wet this Sat.
